Karla Kay Benjamin is an artist who specializes in hand painted silk.

Hand painting on silk is similar to painting a watercolor.  Karla hand paints each of her pieces with meticulous care.  Each piece is an original.  All pieces are painted on 100% silk with specially formulated silk dyes.  Karla primarily uses 100%  Silk Charmeuse which  is called the mercedes of silk for its superior shine, drape and thickness.  Finished pieces have rolled hems and/or are hemmed with a serger.  All pieces are steam set to molecularly bond the dyes with the silk fabric.  Finished pieces are hand washable and/or may be dry cleaned.  Karla's artwork is framed and hung on the wall as often as it is worn.
